General Claims Info
There are five rounds of claims for 2024.
Round One is for artists who are also authors; those authors who created art for the event are allowed to claim in the first round as a thank you for creating the beautiful art for this event!
Round Two is for authors who did not submit art for the event, but who participated last year as either an artist or an author. It's a little bonus for returning authors.
Round Three is for authors who did not submit art for the event and are new to the event this year.
Round Four is for authors who defaulted during the last year they participated. Participants in this cohort may only claim one piece at a time; once they have successfully posted, they are allowed to return and claim pieces one at a time, finishing each piece before claiming another. If no additional default occurs this year, they will move back to their previous cohort next year.
Round Five will be for second and all subsequent claims as authors finish written works and wish to claim new pieces.
What will the form look like?
There's a practice form! We will link it once read. The practice form spreadsheet will also be linked. Feel free to practice submitting as many times as you like, but keep in mind, this is NOT the official claim form. The claim form will be sent out via email to participants.
Where can claims be seen?
If you are a participant, you will be able to see the claims directly on the gallery. Please note: claims need to be added in manually, so there may be delays as the forms are sorted through by the mods. For both participants and non-participants, you can check claims on the
Other events have mod claims. Do the mods claim in advance?
The mods are rolling the same dice you are--we let fate take its course and claim during round one or two, depending on our event status as participants. It does mean that we gamble on what we get, too, but it also gives participants the possibility of grabbing something they love before the mods do. This is why we go 'radio silent' during the ten minutes leading up to opening claims, and have a smidge of a delay before claims begin to get recorded on the galleries.

Round One
The first round of claims is for artists who also wish to write to place their claims. This is a thank you to those who created such lovely works that allow for the writing part of the event to happen! Authors in this category can still claim later, but have a day to claim before others do.
When are the claims for round one?
Claims for round one begin at 15:00 UTC on August 3, 2024.
Where are claims made?
A link will be sent to a google form. This link will be sent in advance of the claims, but will not be active until round one starts. It will be made inactive 30 minutes prior to round two so that the link can be sent to those participating in round two, and become active again when round two starts. (If all artists participating as authors place their claims before round one ends, the form will be made temporarily inactive earlier.) If you miss the cut-off on Round One, you can make your claims in a later round.
Why don't you just use a separate form?
Using the same form allows us to keep all of the claims on the same spreadsheet. It's easier for us -- and, it'll be easier for participants, too!
